Purpose To assist qualified individuals with travel expenses related to travel to research collections for the completion of their PhD dissertations.
Focus History.
Qualifications Applicants must be ALANA (African American, Latino/a, Asian American, Native American) scholars; must be advanced ABD, minimum 5th year in program; dissertation must focus on U.S. history; U.S. residency not required.
Criteria Recipient will be chosen based on the application materials submitted.
Duration Annual.
Number of Awards 1 - 2.
To Apply Applicants should submit the following in a single PDF file via email: a five-page dissertation proposal (which should include a definition of the project, and explanation of the project's significance and contribution to the field, and a description of the most important primary sources), along with a one-page itemized budget explaining travel and research plans; cover letter, which should also indicate the candidate's progress on the dissertation, including ABD status; CV.
Deadline November 1.
